Grown Up Easter

While David was gone on tour I found this super fun idea for Easter at home with your spouse.

It's basically a grown up Easter Egg Hunt.

You hide ten eggs filled with written coupons and hide them all around your house. Then you give your hunny 10-15 minutes (depending on how nice you are) to find them all. If they don't find them, they don't get them. So it's a fun little game, and if you know me...I'm all about games. (Except for "get-to-know-you" games, which make me want to die.)

So, needless to say...David LOVED it and even decided he wanted to do one of his own after mine because he thought he could come up with better hiding places.

We had such a good time! David found all but one of his and I found all of mine...(thanks to a couple of hints...)

I got a candlelight dinner, 3 loads of a laundry, a full body massage, a date night of my choice, and a few more.

David got himself a massage, one free veto of any show or movie, video game night with me, and several that we will keep to ourselves ;)

Happy (belated) Easter!!

Powerful.

This is a poem David did for lifechurch's online Easter services to challenge, inspire, and remind us all of what Easter is really about.

10 months.

I have been married 10 months today.

Last year at this time I was freaking out, counting down the days, and about to book our tickets to Las Vegas to elope with Elvis.

Now I'm living the good life.

All you soon-to-be brides out there who are contemplating if all your stress and hard work is worth it...

It is. Trust me.

Lent

So this year for lent I decided I would give up all sweets and desserts.

Then, after thinking about it, I realized that is called a diet...not spiritual fasting.

I normally use lent as an excuse to try to give up something I love for a short period of time just to test myself. But, this year I decided I am actually going to fast something that helps me grow spiritually.

So, I'm giving up my snooze button.

I hit my snooze button about 5 to 6 times every morning. I literally have to set my alarm almost 45 minutes before the time I actually want to get up in order to make it out of the house on time.

That is a full 45 minutes of time that I could be using to get up and start my day with God.

I've done pretty well the past couple of days and spending time in the morning with my father has been so rewarding.
I will admit I hit my snooze once, but hey, old habits die hard.

So, here's to losing sleep in order to become more lost in him.

Opinion

Well, I've been married for nine months now.

I'm thinking it's about time to do the "I'm married, so now I need to chop off all my hair" trend.

I LOVED my long hair, but since I had to cut about half of it off for the musical it's now back to that medium awkward hair length and I'm just not feeling it.

I'm really not into fixing my hair in the mornings (thats why I liked my long "I can just throw it up in a messy ponytail" hair), so I think this is a short haircut that is low maintenance enough for me.

What do you think?

Something to read on yet another snow day...

My snow days have looked something like this...

-wake up whenever I feel like it
-snuggle time in bed before we decide to get up
-delicious home-cooked breakfast
-gameshows, gameshows, and more gameshows
-hot chocolate with whipped cream
-time to clean while the hubby writes
-pretty little liars, modern family, and true blood
-playing battleship
-finishing "the hunger games" (I am on part 3 of mockingjay. I never want it to end)
-cooking six can soup
-making Chili's salsa (yes, the restaurant. I found the recipe online and it is SO GOOD)
-eating snow ice cream with lacy and quaid
-lots of blankets and cuddling
-finally going outside and attempting to build a snowman
-failing at building a snowman due to powdery snow
-laundry
-staying up late with the one I love
-enjoying the little things :)

So, since we get to have yet another snow day tomorrow, I leave you with the perfect snow day recipe.

Six Can Soup

Ingredients: Vegetable soup, tomato soup, rotel (mild tomatoes and green chilies), white corn, chili with beans, and diced tomatoes.

Directions: Take all six cans, dump them in a pot, simmer on medium for 20-30 minutes or until hot and then serve!

Easy and delicious!
